Network Security

Network Security is the protection of the underlying network infrastructure from unauthorized access, misuse, or theft. It involves creating a secure infrastructure for devices, applications, users, and applications to work securely.

Key Competencies:

  1. Network and Routing Protocols / Services - Understanding of the OSI Model, the concepts of electronic data exchange, from signals in the wires, to modern data encryption techniques. Routing  - Understanding of methodologies used to identify the optimal way of packet travel in the network.

  2. Network Admin - Hands-on operation of a Computer Network and Equipment, Monitoring and Analyzing Network Traffic Flow, Patterns, and Performance. Hands-on Creation and Analysis of Critical Network Servers. VLANs and network troubleshooting best practices. Hands-on of Nmap.

  3. Packet Tracer - Hands-on with Packet Tracer to design networks, configure switches, VLANs, Trunks, and Subnetting. Ability to configure LAN and WAN.

  4. Monitoring - Packet Level Traffic Analysis. Monitoring tools and introduction to SNMP.

  5. Security Architecture - Good understanding of the Network security architecture. Can create/update/remove Firewalls, Antivirus, IDS/IPS, SIEM, DMZ and Honeypots. Hands-on with Snort IDS, Splunk. Hands-on of Windows Firewall and Linux iptables.
