Data Center

A data center is a secure, reliable, centralized repository to store, process, and manage large amounts of data.

This competency area includes an understanding of the concepts of high availability, scalability, security, power and cooling, management, and monitoring, disaster recovery, virtualization, automation and orchestration, big data analytics, and cloud integration.

Key Competencies:

  1. High availability - Provide uninterrupted access to data and applications, through backup systems to ensure that resources remain available even in the event of failures.

  2. Scalability - Ability to accommodate growing amounts of data and computing resources.

  3. Security - Explore the use of physical and virtual security measures to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.

  4. Power and cooling - Use redundant power supplies and advanced cooling systems to ensure that equipment operates reliably and efficiently.

  5. Management and monitoring - Knowledge of tools to monitor, manage, and maintain the infrastructure, allowing administrators to proactively address issues and improve performance.

  6. Disaster recovery - Ability to provide robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure that critical data and applications remain available even in the event of a disaster.

  7. Virtualization - Explore the use of virtualization technologies to maximize resource utilization and improve agility and scalability.

  8. Automation and orchestration - Knowledge of automated tools and workflows to manage and configure infrastructure, reducing the need for manual intervention.

  9. Big data analytics - Provide the infrastructure and resources needed to process and analyze large volumes of data, enabling organizations to make informed decisions.

  10. Cloud integration - Knowledge of integration with cloud services, allowing organizations to leverage the benefits of both on-premises and cloud-based resources.
