Tilliams Chocolate•  August 2021 - Present
During my studies at the University of Warwick, I developed my passion for baking and cooking. In March of 2020, I embarked on a project with a friend to learn to make chocolate. After over a year of working on flavours and developing our skills, we started a small market stall selling chocolates to students outside the study hall. From this point, we approached the university and on two separate occasions secured grants amounting to over £3,000 in support of our project. We took the year after graduating to work on the project as an opportunity to explore a new hobby and develop vital transferrable skills that would benefit us in graduate roles. As a team of two, I was involved in developing flavours, designing packaging, maintaining the social media, pitching to local businesses, and monitoring our records. During this time, I developed many key skills from planning to time management. Through the project I learnt the importance of regular revising of the plan and regular updating of the to do list along with a priority system on tasks. The project also vastly improved my confidence in pitching through promoting our chocolate to local businesses in the area. I believe the experiences and skills I gained from this time will be hugely beneficial in my future career.
Summer Camp Coding Tutor 2018 & 2020
Funtech•  July 2018 - August 2020
I taught courses to students aged 7-15 in Python, Java, Scratch, and a variety of other topics. Tutoring at Funtech summer camps has helped refine my ability to explain and express ideas. It has taught me to approach problems from multiple angles, as each student requires ideas explained in a unique way they can comprehend. Often every child is capable of learning to overcome almost any barrier, you just need to express the problem in a way that suits their learning methods. During my time at Funtech, I lead classes while also being given the opportunity to devise my own course curriculum for a new one off class for a young student ages 7 who was highly capable and wanted a second more advanced Scratch course to allow her to continue to develop her coding ability under the guidance of a tutor she connected with.
