Work Experience

  • Test Automation Developer II

    BlackBerry•  January 2015 - September 2019

    * Automated tests related to security and mobile devices. Mobile device and media card encryptions, secure email (S/MIME), security tracking apps, device work space, device password complexity, ActiveSync device activation, app content providers, Calendar and Contacts app. * Improved test execution efficiency with API automation. Designed and implemented API automation to verify the data integrity of applications under different activation environments. As a result, tests ran faster and required less maintenance. API automated tests were used as Beta release. * Enhanced execution time of UI automated tests. Re-coded existing tests that took long time to execute, which improved execution time efficiency in more than half. * Developed useful automated metric reports to improve performance in several teams. Created different automated metric reports for test teams to track logged issues status and found escaped defects. * Experience in working in an agile software dev lifecycle. Successfully produced continuous automation results every two-week sprint under Scrum process, providing demos of my automation progress in Scrum reviews.

  • Software Test Specialist II

    BlackBerry•  May 2010 - January 2015

    * Created effective, reliable and complete test cases through the implementation of graphical models. Implemented the use of mind maps software during test design to depict a graphical model of the system. This provided a better understanding of the system and the co-relation of its components. This approach drove discussions with software developers around intended and unintended functionality. * Excellent bug finding, bug reproduction and bug tracking skills. Found and reproduced critical and hidden software bugs through a comprehensive exploratory testing approach in combination with a detailed scripted testing execution in order to deliver product quality. * Designed and developed a bug tracking tool (“Bug Tracker”). Developed a tool to collect device information, device logs, server logs, screenshots, video, and file system image in just one click. Then, the tool automatically attached all the generated files into a bug report. Bug Tracker was eventually indoctrinated into the whole SV&V organization to be used as standard tool to collect device logs. * Implemented process improvement and methodologies to identify, analyze and reduce defects. Championed the reduction of escaped defects in release phase. This required careful assessment, classification and root cause analysis of issues that have escaped after software release. Worked in conjunction with other testing teams and developers to help them to assess their current escaped defect ratio and reduction target.

  • Software Test Specialist I

    BlackBerry•  January 2009 - April 2010

Internship: * Meticulous test execution and observation approach allowed me to find issues where other testers couldn’t find. As a result, 130 actual bugs were logged by me in a period of three months. Improving the quality of the product. * Applied different types of functional and non-functional testing before and after device software upgrade and downgrade.
