I helped the company (Vodacom SA) migrate their on-premise Open-shift database environment to AWS RDS Aurora. This also involved decoupling their monolith Oracle environment and migrating it into microservices architecture that used AWS RDS Aurora databases. I worked with the development scrum teams, analysts, and DevOps engineers for different systems. I also mentored junior database administrators and developers with an Oracle background and trained them on AWS, specifically RDS Aurora.

Primary DBA for the migration of the on-premises infrastructure (MySQL, PostgreSQL, and HP Vertica) to AWS RDS and EC2. I was the database administrator responsible for migrating the data (after tokenization for sensitive banking customer data) from on-premise to AWS S3 and loading it into the relevant databases. I assisted the company in formally starting with open-source databases (more specifically MySQL). I worked on their Medirite store system utilizing MySQL Enterprise database from initial setup, configuration, testing, and deploying to stores. I was also part of the team that worked on launching the company's loyalty program (Xtra Savings) and was responsible for finetuning and configuring the RDS Aurora database environment to perform optimally. I worked closely with the developers, testers and consulting SAP Commerce teams to achieve the work. Working with the SQL Server team and assisting with patching, installations and deployments.

Primary DBA at the company to look after their MySQL and PostgreSQL databases on-premises. I doubled for a few months as a BI Developer to ensure the function stayed afloat without a BI Developer/Analyst and ensure management reporting continued. Working and mentoring the developers (junior-senior level) on the best practices to query writing to ensure optimal database performance.
