Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) is a public state university located in West Bengal. Formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT), it is approved by the UGC and AICTE, and is accredited by NAAC. A number of UG courses offered by MAKAUT are also accredited by NBA and as claimed by the official website, this number is expected to go up by the end of this academic session. Ranked 157 in Engineering by NIRF 2020, MAKAUT currently offers around 80 UG, PG, diploma, doctoral and certificate courses across its seven schools and over 100 UG and PG courses via its 196 affiliated colleges. Over the years, the University is able to sustain a student to faculty ratio of 25:1 for UG courses and 15:1 for its PG courses. All the courses offered by MAKAUT are available in diverse streams, i.e. Engineering, Management, Science and Software & IT, among others. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology admission to all the courses is based on university/ state/ national-level entrance exams. It conducts CET, JEMAT and PGET for admission to BSc, MSc, BCA, BBA, MBA, MHA, MTech and MPharm. Other than these, some of the state and national-level exams accepted by the University include WBJEE, GATE, JECA and GAT-B, among others. The University also has a placements cell that acts as a link between the students and recruiters. Over the years, top corporate giants, such as Cognizant, Infosys, TCS and Wipro, among others, have hired the students of this university for a number of roles. Some of these popular roles include Senior Engineer, Executive Engineer (Trainee) and Software Engineer, among others. In addition to the placements and to support the students financially, MAKAUT also offers a number of merit-based, need-based, talent-based and post-matric scholarships to the students.
