Working as a smartcard developer with the EMV standard, where most projects are weekly and one-off. The work requires the developer to act on many fronts, not only in the development one, such as: project management, schedule management, helping the client to understand what needs to be developed, teamwork to solve problems, management of card prototypes provided for testing, proactivity when communicating with third parties (usually card manufacturers or validators). The work requires a special thoroughness for each project, following in detail the manual and specification of each card and application (Mastercard, VISA, AMEX, Discover, among others). It often becomes an investigative work when troubleshooting, given the range of options that a certain card and application can have.
