Work Experience
Software Development Engineer I
Amazon Web Services•  September 2022 - June 2024•  Seattle, WA
â–ª Developer for Tying, a distributed system built atop Elastic Container Service, DynamoDB, Simple Queue Service (SQS), Simple Notification Service (SNS), and Simple Workflow Service on AWS. Tying deploys Linux kernel and OS package upgrades to fleets of over 30,000 production hosts without impacting customer fleet availability. â–ª Designed and implemented cross-account, cross-region, and cross-partition event notification solutions for Tying using Amazon SQS and Amazon SNS, which unblocked Tying from building in new AWS regions. â–ª Debugged and provided solutions to complex problems such as Dynamo DB partition throttling, where I implemented a solution that reduced partitional table read requests by 90%. â–ª Mitigated operational events and provided customer support during regular on-call rotations. â–ª Developed on-call scripts that reduced the response time to operational events from one hour to a few seconds. â–ª Rewrote our service agent in Rust for Hackathon project, resulting in a ten-fold decrease in memory usage.
Associate QA Scientist
Schrodinger•  November 2019 - August 2022•  Portland, OR
▪ Created automated tests for Schrödinger’s products in Python using Squish, a framework for testing QT applications. ▪ Maintained and improved Schrödinger’s Squish Python codebase, fixing blocker issues preventing the automated testing of specific user interface features and reducing test runtime by up to 80%. ▪ Created scientific validation tests in Python to benchmark Schrödinger’s computational tools against experimental datasets using pandas, NumPy, and Schrödinger’s Python API. ▪ Performed development tasks including fixing bugs in production code, writing unit tests for untested scripts and modules using Pytest, and refactoring unit tests to allow for parallel test execution. ▪ Programmatically modeled colorblindness to identify colorblind-friendly color palettes for use in molecular visualization.
Research Assistant
Oregon Health & Science University•  June 2017 - November 2019•  Beaverton, OR
