Senior DevOps Engineer at Access Services team in RedBeeMedia. Our team was in charge of creating and supporting infrastructure, tools and integrations between our subtitler teams, our clients and other legacy Red Bee systems. I adopted a more sustainability-robustness role to housekeep parts of our applications or create new ones where robustness and flexibilty were critical Our infrastructure consisted of AWS purely for cloud infrastructure, using serverless to deploy a lot of client-specific pipelines and communication between RedBee parts, while most of our app infrastructure were in K8s. Our main application, Vault, is built in Django and Angular. Acts as a backoffice and work application, giving updated status on work to managers while also providing our subtitlers the necessary tools for their work and automatic delivery and processing for our clients. Some of my main contributions are: The PlanBeePoller, a complex integration with our previous Vault-like application, PlanBee, which held an enormous amount of business logic. It was also a black-box, one way integration, as we didn't have ownership over the old system. This required a very thorough process. Discussions with both Ops and Product teams, a full on refactor of our Job and Task entities hierarchy logic using TDD, with an accompanying library to be able to handle all this new hierarchy logic. This component is the key part of our 2nd biggest client, Channel4, who as 2021 consisted on 22% of our revenue, and we keep adding new clients with no defects so far and little to no maintenance Complete overhaul of the frontend css to stop using bootstrap in favor of flex-grid and flex-box layout which were more easy to reason with, many optimizations to data flow between frontend and backend, allowing SPA-like tabs and websocket updates. This speed up the team immensely and unblocked frontend work to be handled by our junior roles.
