Work Experience

  • Research assistant

University of British Columbia•  September 2018 - Present

I developed a parallel code in CUDA/Fortran that optimized a Non-Newtonial fluids model. The result was a code that takes just 2% of the time of the original one. We also developed a cutting bed model using OpenFoam.

  • Software Engineer

Secretary of Energy and National Science Council of Mexico•  January 2013 - May 2014

Development of the petroleum model using C++ and and parallel programing in CUDA. Analysis and implementations of the model; Fast integration with all the team. Evaluation and presentation of the results of the model.

  • Software Engineer

Orion Earth. Secretary of Energy and National Science Council of Mexico•  January 2013 - May 2014

Project: Orion Earth. Secretary of Energy and National Science Council of Mexico Development of the Conjugate Gradient algorithm, Conjugate Gradient with preconditioner algorithm, Conjugate Gradient with preconditioner algorithm, BiGradient Algorithm, BiConjugate Gradient with preconditioner algorithm, all of them in CUDA. Development of the Andrew’s algorithm and Convex hull algorithm in C#. Development of the front end to use the algorithms above in Xaml.

Education

  • University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver

    Computer Science & Engineering, MS•  September 2018 - April 2023

I studied a model of a CFD viscoplastic fluid in an annular cementing model and I optimized and parallelized with CUDA. Our version of the model takes just 2% of the time of the original one. We also developed a cutting bed model using OpenFoam.

  • University of Nottingham

    Scientific Computation, MS•  September 2014 - January 2016

It was used the Discontinuous Galerkin Method for the solution of a CFD 1D Elliptic Equation in CUDA, It was perform some benchmarks to compare the perfomance of the serial code against the parallel code in CUDA; Finally, the error L2 was calculate to validate the result.

  • Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México

    Physics, BS•  September 2008 - January 2013

It was used the Discontinuous Galerkin Method for the solution of a CFD 1D Elliptic Equation in CUDA, It was perform some benchmarks to compare the perfomance of the serial code against the parallel code in CUDA; Finally, the error L2 was calculate to validate the result.
