Computer Scientist
United States Department of Defense•  July 2021 - Present
Gaining experience in Agile processes, software development, embedded system application development, GPS, and INS. Modified an existing WinForms application that interacts with a GPS and INS embedded system sensor. Self studied for and earned the Comptia Security+ to expand my skillset. Designed a windows application in QT5 C++ that alters specific values of an input file such as Latitude, Longitude, Altitude, velocities, accelerations, and attitude/attitude rates. The application can also alter values by specifying values in non-native coordinate systems from the input file and applying transformations to achieve this task. Multiple input file types are accepted and an output file based on the input file is created with the altered values. The application has a GUI that includes a users reference guide and prompts to help the user input values.
PCIP Computer Scientist Intern
United States Department of Defense•  June 2020 - August 2020
Designed and implemented a windows desktop application using that includes a GUI using QT5 in C++. Agile methodology was followed that involved creating documentation (user guides, user stories, and a quick reference guide), and iterating through sprints. The programs main purpose was to parse incoming NovAtel messages from a reference receiver station and convert the binary information into a human readable spreadsheet. This included data such GPS time of day, navigation and telemetry data. Reading the official documentation from NovAtel was required to understand and parse the sync message, header values, implement the CRC, and filter out messages that were not of interest. A 30 minute presentation was required after testing and validating the working application.
