Work Experience

  • Software Developer

    kACE (a FENICS brand)•  June 2018 - Present

At kACE I have had the opportunity to work on award-winning FX-option trading software using mostly Java and C++. One of the notable projects I have worked on was to develop a distributed computing system using Kafka, which allowed clients to improve performance through flexible horizontal scaling. When we switched from MySQL to SQL Server I developed several utilities to configure databases for use with our software. I have also helped to train fellow team members in Kafka and Git, and interview candidates for new Software Developer positions.

  • Application Support Specialist

    Bessemer Trust•  August 2017 - June 2018

At Bessemer Trust, I was responsible for supporting the software used internally by the company. I also found several opportunities to boost productivity by suggesting and developing tools to automate repetitive tasks, such as an Outlook add-on that I developed in C# to automatically create JIRA tickets from incoming emails. I also wrote SQL scripts to compile custom data reports requested by our client managers and helped to resolve issues with Salesforce as well as our proprietary trading software.

  • Game Developer

    Mega Cat Studios•  April 2016 - August 2017

At Mega Cat Studios I had the opportunity to work on some really fun NES games while sharpening my skills in C and 6502 Assembly. I learned a lot about writing highly efficient code and collaborating with others on creative game design. I also developed tools to boost productivity for me and other developers by automating tasks, such as converting a png background into a tiled graphic format that can be used on the NES. As I picked up the necessary skills quickly, I also helped to teach new developers how to effectively develop NES games.
