Optimal supply power allocation for optical fibers using neural networks – We solve the problem of maximizing capacity under a total supply power constraint in a sub- marine cable (fiber). By using multi-layer neural networks trained with extensive measurement data, we experimentally maximize fiber capacity for the transmit signal’s spectral power distribution based on a gradient-descent algorithm.

Powerline communication on long-distance high-voltage lines – Developed Synchronization and channel equalization for OFDM. Performance evaluation by MATLAB simulation and further implementation throughout GNURadio, Python, and C++. Practical implementation on DSP FPGA board through USRP E100 software radio which is an embedded stand-alone system for testing purposes.
