At Maverick, I was an integral part of a small cohesive team tackling fullstack projects. We implemented user facing features (MERN stack over PHP/MySQL backend) and internal admin tooling (classic LAMP stack), with shared business logic implementation and data stores, all while working to improve the maintainability and performance of an aging codebase. Notable accomplishments include: ● Led a yearslong project to incrementally refactor legacy backend PHP monolith into organized classes to improve codebase stability, reducing bugs and time to fix ● Spearheaded several version rolls for PHP, including v5.2 → v5.6, which required rewriting inline SQL connectors to use PDO ● Closed a significant security hole by migrating hundreds of uses of inline SQL to prepared statements and parameterized queries ● Identified limitations to our existing MySQL version that were negatively affecting our data integrity and led a project to upgrade to a version that improved performance, gave us transactional capabilities at the DB level and solved issues we had been having related to character sets. ● Migrated servers from self hosted to AWS ● Collaborated closely with technical and non-technical leadership to create clarity around feature needs and limitations, and advised on feasibility, cost, and potential ROI for engineering projects ● In-house subject matter expert and team lead for SysAdmin/DevOps tasks, including incident management and resolution, server management ● Designed and created data-driven templates to generate 30+ different customer-facing product marketing web pages, enabling management to bypass the development process for updates to these ● Owned report creation, creating clear and accurate presentations of complex data, providing invaluable business insights across the company
