Work Experience

  • Software Engineer

    Samsung•  June 2018 - Present

I am with the team building a MaaP (Messaging as a Platform) and RCS (Rich Communication Services). The MaaP bridges the Chatbots to the service operators (e.g. AT&T) and enables the users/devices to interact with the Chatbots. I mainly focus on the back-end components and analytics of the MaaP.

  • Software Engineer

    Samsung•  August 2017 - December 2017

I was the leading member of a project that attempts to identify family members in smart homes using machine learning. I was responsible for building both the front-end (ReactJS) and back-end (Python) of the proof-of-concept.

  • Software Engineer Intern

    Facebook•  May 2016 - August 2016

I worked on BGP (border gateway protocol) at Facebook’s infrastructure team. I built a C++ program that collects and analyzes BGPs at different point of presences.

  • Software Engineer Intern

    Samsung Telecommunication America•  June 2014 - August 2014

I was responsible for investigating and developing innovative applications using We- bRTC on Android and PC. WebRTC is an open source library for browsers and mobile applications to establish real-time audio/video communication.WebRTC handles firewall traversal internally and decides optimized video solution depending on network bandwidth. I investigated several possibil- ities for signaling mechanisms, built prototype apps as the proof-of-concept and issued a patent.

Education

  • Michigan State University, East Lansing

Computer Science and Engineering, PhD•  July 2011 - August 2017

My projects focus on improving resource (wireless spectrum and/or time slots) utilization and minimizing interference in various type of wireless networks. In cognitive radio networks, we investigate to alleviate the congestion in the unlicensed spectrum by reusing underutilized licensed spectrum. In cellular networks, we investigate the challenges of millimeter wave technology, and we conduct research on improving spectrum utilization with denser cellular stations (e.g., femtocells).
