Project Description - Supervision and monitoring platform of an SD-WAN service provider. The platform collected data from various components and correlated them to ensure smooth operation. Whenever there was an issue, the platform alerted the concerned people through a live dashboard and notifications. Role: • Developed and maintained Prometheus and Grafana applications to ensure proper functioning of the SD-WAN Orchestrator. • Developed and maintained queries (PromQL) in Prometheus (a time-series database) to scrape the data from the datahub, analyze them, and report and observe the alerts generated using the Prometheus alert manager. • Designed and built impactful dashboards using Grafana to report on different alert and orchestration metrics, successfully interpreting data to draw conclusions from them. • Wrote Shell scripts to push dummy JSON files into the Kafka datahub from which Prometheus scrapped the data using Prometheus metrics. • Developed custom Grafana plugins using JavaScript and made modifications to the Grafana application as per the desired need. • Containerized the software applications using Docker, which were built as microservices and orchestrated by Kubernetes clusters. • Worked in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver regular updates to the business teams and project managers, with a focus on delivering high-quality software.
