The curriculum is spread-out to 8 semesters (4 years) and a total of 3 months of practical training during the break periods have to be completed. In their junior and senior years students specialize in one of the areas on Circuit and Systems, Electromagnetic Fields and Microwave Techniques, Electronics, Communications by choosing among elective courses and completing a senior design project supervised by a faculty member. The graduates of ECE Department at ITU have easy access to many job opportunities in the fields of electronics and telecommunications industry, fixed line operators, mobile operators, telecommunication equipment vendors, banking, computer manufacturing, software development, biomedical instrumentation, hardware designing and systems planning. They have occupied positions as important as President and Prime Minister of Turkey, Ministries of Turkey, Mayors of important cities, CEO of International and National Banks, Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey etc.
