Work Experience

  • Staff Software Engineer

    Excursions Inc.•  February 2019 - Present

Develop and maintain the Excursion trip planner product across web, browser extension and mobile platforms, culminating in an initial beta release of the product to over 100 users. Engage across a wide range of functional areas as the company’s first non-founder employee - from requirements generation and analysis, to prototyping and development, to validation and deployment. Also proactively provide value in many areas outside core responsibilities, including competitor analysis, design and UX prototyping, and creation of internal processes and documentation. Consistently focus on building solid technical foundations that can be deployed quickly to elicit user feedback and then easily built-up or archived thereafter. This has led to the ability for the product to be continuously improved without sacrificing excessive time and effort converting prototypes into production-ready code.

  • Staff Software Engineer

    Tesla Motors•  May 2015 - January 2019

Responsible for the development, deployment and support of customer-facing and internal mobile apps across iOS and Android, serving hundreds of thousands of users worldwide in eleven different languages. Transformed the entire mobile ecosystem from two fully-native apps with separate codebases, divergent features and ad-hoc releases into a cohesive product program. This program featured a single React Native codebase, transparent development processes, and synchronized, cross-platform release cycles. Also proactively focused on automating processes to ensure consistency and predictability of releases, as well as minimization of key- person risk for the program. Applied skills across the entire technical stack to develop solutions and troubleshoot issues - including in native and JavaScript-based mobile apps, backend services and vehicle-side firmware. Worked both solo and leading a very small team of software engineers, often with challenging time constraints for development.
