Work Experience

  • Software Engineer

    Micro Focus•  August 2017 - July 2018

Worked in the Data Center Automation team of Micro Focus to build and stabilize the Automation Job Manager application. There was a need for automated management of Provisioning, Patching and Compliance jobs on client-side systems, servers, and data-centers. The aforementioned application took care of the above tasks by intelligently and efficiently scheduling and running the jobs. My role in this application involved: 1. Building the core logic of the scheduling algorithm. 2. Modifying and upgrading existing (outdated) functionalities to make the application more robust and resilient. 3. Stabilizing the application by fixing defects and rewriting functionalities. We developed, tested, and built our applications in a Jenkins CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Development) environment. We also followed the Scaled Agile model and worked in scrum teams. Technologies primarily used during my time here were: Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes, Go Lang

  • SDE Intern

    Hewlett Packard Enterprise•  January 2017 - July 2017

Interned at the R&D department of HPE Software. Worked on a proof-of-concept project to develop product-specific compliance reports. This involved two steps: 1. Creating a dataset. I used vulnerability reports from sources like NVD (nvd.nist.gov) and CVE database (cvedetails.com) and web-scraped direct user reviews from sources like G2Crowd. This data was then analyzed, cleaned, tagged, and modeled into a final pos-tagged dataset with scores. 2. Using sentiment analysis and the available dataset to generate compliance reports for any new given software or software version. Technologies used during this project were Python, NLTK, and BeautifulSoup

  • Summer SDE Intern

    Visa•  May 2016 - July 2016

    1. Worked in the Corporate IT team on testing automation frameworks like Jasmine and Protractor to test AngularJS projects. Experienced first-hand the reduction in development time due to the adoption of automated testing practices. 2. Gained exposure to the business logic behind many internal applications at Visa. 3. Also had the opportunity to attend "Destination Everywhere", a global intern summit organized by Visa, in San Francisco.

Education

  • University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles

    Computer Science, MS•  August 2018 - Present

Joined the Master's program at USC to better my knowledge of and to gain a different kind of exposure to Computer Science. * Taken subjects such as Artificial Intelligence, Algorithms, Database Systems, Machine Learning, Introduction to Cryptography, and Introduction to Data Mining. * Won (2nd place) at USC ACM TrojanHacks 2018. Developed an improved university lecture portal with active subtitles and lecture summary, using Google Cloud Platform APIs, sentiment analysis and feature extraction. * Built a decentralized voting system at HackTech 2019, using Blockchain’s concept of distributed databases, to ensure security and integrity of election processes. * Working as a System Administrator at USC Facilities Management Services (FMS). Job roles include system provisioning and maintenance, hardware setups, and customer support. * Photographer at the SC Auto Society (USC's automotive club).
