What does the cost of renting an airplane include?

Business aviation has a number of advantages over regular flights. The vast majority of clients are representatives of business circles, political and creative elite.

The only downside to business aviation is its high cost. What does the jet rental price consist of, is it possible to save on this service without compromising comfort - this will be discussed below.

Aircraft classes

One of the key pricing factors is the class of aircraft. Private jets can be divided into the following groups:

  • turboprops - are compact in size and can land at almost any airport. Compared to jet aircraft, they have a low cruising speed and are limited in range. However, the rental cost of such aircraft is the most affordable, which makes them very popular for short-distance flights;
  • ultralight and light jet. They develop a fairly high cruising speed (over 800 kilometers per hour). They are capable of covering a distance of about 2-2.6 thousand kilometers without refueling. Their rental cost is slightly higher compared to turboprops, but if it is important for you to quickly get to your destination, this is an ideal option;
  • medium and medium-haul. They have a higher passenger capacity. They develop a speed of up to 900 kilometers per hour. Many of them are capable of covering distances of 5-6 thousand kilometers. They represent the optimal combination of cost, comfort and flight characteristics, so the rental of business jets of this category is in high demand;
  • large and long-haul. These are airliners with increased passenger capacity. Several dozen passengers can be accommodated on board such an aircraft, which is relevant for large delegations, sports and creative teams. Most of these aircraft are capable of making a non-stop flight over a distance of over 10 thousand kilometers. Their rental cost is the highest, since their maintenance and service are significantly more expensive compared to aircraft of other classes.

The price is also affected by the year of manufacture of the aircraft and its manufacturer. The newer the aircraft, the more expensive it is. Traditionally, renting domestically produced aircraft is more expensive compared to models from foreign manufacturers.

Other factors affecting rental costs

The final cost of renting a business jet is calculated individually. It may be affected by:

  • the hourly rate for a particular season;
  • the number of hours an aircraft spends in flight;
  • idle time on board (for example, waiting for a passenger);
  • fuel consumption. On average, a business jet consumes about a ton of fuel per hour. The cost depends on the type and grade of aviation fuel, its cost in a particular country;
  • catering. Everything depends on the passenger's preferences. Special food preferences are an addition to the cost of aircraft rental;
  • airport services. Professional assistance from specialists significantly speeds up airport procedures. This is especially true for large international airports. However, ordering this service increases the rental cost. Any other service at the airport (provision of a meeting room, delivery of the aircraft directly to the terminal, etc.) means an increase in the rental cost;
  • treatment of the fuselage with an anti-icing compound;
  • additional customer requirements. For example, a general cleaning of the salon or its special design - this also increases the payment.

How to Save on Renting a Business Jet

It is not worth saving too much on the cost of ordering a private jet - comfort and safety are above all. However, there are several options that will help reduce the cost of renting a little.

Carefully study the offers of flight organizers, compare prices, choose the best aircraft option. For example, for a short-distance flight, a light aircraft will be enough. Modern turboprop aircraft models provide a high level of comfort, but are much cheaper.

You can reduce the cost of your flight by choosing to land at a lesser-known airport that charges a small fee. For example, if you are flying to the capital of Great Britain, you can land at Stansted Airport instead of London City. This will save you about $2,000.

The rental price as example for private jet charter London is not affected by the number of passengers on board. This means that flying in a group is much more profitable, since the price is distributed among everyone.

When choosing a model of a certain year of manufacture, you should stick to the "golden mean". Models of recent years are too expensive, those manufactured more than a decade ago are technically outdated. The best option is an aircraft manufactured no more than 10 years ago. Such machines have modern technical equipment, while the cost of ordering them is cheaper.

You can also save on food. For example, if you have a short flight, you should opt for an inexpensive business lunch. However, for long flights, you need to organize proper food.

The Empty Legs system, which allows you to use connecting flights, provides significant savings (up to 75%). This option is suitable for those who are flying only one way and are ready to adjust to an already planned flight.

Scoring

  • Each challenge has a pre-determined score.
  • A participant’s score depends on the number of test cases a participant’s code submission successfully passes.
  • If a participant submits more than one solution per challenge, then the participant’s score will reflect the highest score achieved. In a game challenge, the participant's score will reflect the last code submission.
  • Participants are ranked by score. If two or more participants achieve the same score, then the tie is broken by the total time taken to submit the last solution resulting in a higher score
