About

The CODETHON event is a 1-hour online coding competition that will be held on HackerRank on October 10, 2023 and the timing are 12:00 to 2:00 PM. The event is open to all students from GITAM Hyderabad.

Prizes

  • The first 5 participants in each slot who successfully complete and submit 2 problems quickly on the HackerRank platform will receive Coursera licenses as prizes.
  • Specify the process for distributing the prizes.

Rules

  • The creator of this contest is solely responsible for setting and communicating the eligibility requirements associated with prizes awarded to participants, as well as for procurement and distribution of all prizes. The contest creator holds HackerRank harmless from and against any and all claims, losses, damages, costs, awards, settlements, orders, or fines.

Codeathon Rules and Guidelines:

1. Eligibility: - The Codeathon is open to all GITAM Hyderabad students.

2. Registration: - Participants must register in advance to participate in the Codeathon. - Registration should include participants' name, contact information, and GITAM affiliation.

3. Date and Time: - The Codeathon will take place on October 4th, 2023. - There will be two slots: 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

4. Platform: - The Codeathon will be conducted on HackerRank. Ensure all participants have access to HackerRank and are familiar with its usage.

5. Problem Sets: - A set of 10 coding problems with varying levels of difficulty on HackerRank. - Each participant can choose any 2 problems from the set to solve during their selected slot.

6. Rules During the Codeathon: - Participants are not allowed to access the internet or any online resources during the Codeathon. - The use of phones, Bluetooth devices, or any communication tools is strictly prohibited. - Participants can use a WhatsApp group for communication related to the Codeathon.

7. Submission: - Participants should submit their solutions on HackerRank within the specified 1-hour time frame for their chosen slot. - Late submissions will not be accepted.

8. Evaluation: - HackerRank will automatically evaluate the solutions based on correctness and efficiency. - The leaderboard on HackerRank will determine the winners for each slot.

9. Fair Play: - Participants are expected to maintain fair play and avoid plagiarism. - Plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification.

10. Code of Conduct: - Participants must adhere to a code of conduct that includes respectful and responsible behavior. - Any form of misconduct will lead to disqualification.

Scoring

  • Each challenge has a pre-determined score.
  • A participant’s score depends on the number of test cases a participant’s code submission successfully passes.
  • If a participant submits more than one solution per challenge, then the participant’s score will reflect the highest score achieved. In a game challenge, the participant's score will reflect the last code submission.
  • Participants are ranked by score. If two or more participants achieve the same score, then the tie is broken by the total time taken to submit the last solution resulting in a higher score
